Our Mission
The mission of Park City Juniors Volleyball Club is to inspire and empower young athletes through the sport of volleyball. We want to practice, and we want to compete. We want athletes who train at Park City Juniors to develop a sense of self-discipline and pride in their efforts. We are dedicated to setting a standard of excellence through our values and professional methods of player development.
Core Values
Respect
We respect ourselves, our teammates, our coaches and our competitors. We demonstrate respect through our actions; we show up on time, we listen to others, we think before we speak, and we disagree respectfully. We communicate with empathy. We set our own boundaries and we respect the boundaries of others.
Community
Every player, parent and coach who participates in a PCJVC practice is part of the growing volleyball community here in Park City, Utah. We represent a wide variety of individuals united by a common interest. We support and trust one another, and we know that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Effort
We show effort when we consistently choose to be great in the areas we can control. We come into the gym with a a smile, we have a positive attitude toward hard work, we encourage our teammates and unify groups. We take the extra step toward the ball. We choose to do the work, even when it might be out of our comfort zone.
Growth Mindset
We believe that we are always capable of learning. We recognize that every new situation, be it success, failure or challenge, represents an opportunity for growth. We are inspired by the success of our teammates and competitors, and we choose to learn from them rather than feel threatened by them. We compare ourselves to ourselves.
Our Coaches

Anna Cmaylo-Acton
Anna’s volleyball journey started in 3rd grade, when a classmate’s mom started a school volleyball team. She was hooked from a young age, and was fortunate to be surrounded with many opportunities to continue playing through middle school and high school.
A four-year letter-winner at Santa Clara University, Anna enjoyed her top collegiate campaign as a sophomore in 2005 as she helped propel the Broncos to a program-record 27 victories, a West Coast championship, a berth into the NCAA Tournament national semifinals and a final No. 4 ranking in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll. She graduated as a three-time All-WCC First Team and three-time AVCA All-American.
After graduation, Anna went on to pursue a professional career in Europe, playing for a total of 6 seasons with several teams, including VBC Cheseaux (Switzerland), ATSC Kelag Klagenfurt (Austria) and Dresdner Sportclub 1898 e.V. (Germany). During 2 seasons with Dresdner Sportclub, Anna helped the team compete in Champion’s League, arguably among most competitive international leagues worldwide.
Anna officially retired from professional volleyball in 2015 but hasn’t completely stopped competing—when she’s not spending time with her family, she still spends some weekends playing sand volleyball in California and Utah.
At Park City Juniors Volleyball Club, Anna is thrilled to have a chance to create opportunities for kids in her community to play more volleyball!
Bethany johansen byers
Bethany was introduced to volleyball in 6th grade when she played for her middle school. There she fell in love with the fun of the sport and had a blast competing against rival middle schools in the area. From there Bethany attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, CA. As a senior she was an All-American player, 1st Team All State, ranked 34th nationally, and helped her team win the State Championship.
Bethany spent her first two years of college competing for the University of California Santa Barbara. She was awarded the 2005 All-Academic Team and All-Freshman Team. Bethany transferred from UCSB to the University of Southern California to compete for the Trojans during her junior and senior year of college. During her senior season, her team made it to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament, finishing 3rd, and Bethany was nominated as one of thirty athletes for the Lowe's Senior Class Award.
Bethany had the opportunity to pursue a professional volleyball career, playing abroad for Bellinzona Volley (Switzerland). After playing abroad Bethany continued sharing her love of the sport, coaching high school, club, and collegiate volleyball. Bethany is looking forward to introducing kids in her community to the game.
